Longarm Rates

Square Inch Price

I charge 2 cents per square inch for all designs.

Example: A quilt top is 60 inches x 80 inches. 60 x 80 = 4800 x .02 = $96.

My minimum quilting charge is $50. This means that a small quilt or table runner's square inch price will be rounded up to the $50 minimum.

Batting

I use and stock my favorite Quilters Dream batting in the 80/20 cotton/poly blend, 100% cotton, and in the 100% poly. I can special order other batting requests like wool or black batting.

Batting is a separate charge and is NOT included in the square inch price.

I charge for batting by the linear inch from queen rolls of batting except in the case of special orders.  I will use only what is needed for your quilt (smallest side + a 5" margin) and charge per inch.

For example, if you have a 60" x 80" quilt, I would cut 65" of the batting of your choice.
65" of 100% cotton deluxe loft @ $0.49/in = $31.85
65" of 80/20 cotton/poly blend @ $0.35/in = $22.75
65" of 100% poly @ $0.36/in = $23.40

Thread

I stock both Glide (#40 & #50 weight) and some So Fine (#50) threads. I don't charge any extra fees for thread use, it's included in your square inch price.
My personal style attempts to match or blend thread color with the lighter areas of your quilt. But this is YOUR quilt! Let me know if you have a preference on thread color.

Finishing Services

I am happy to put the finishing touches on your quilt once the edge-to-edge design is complete. I can trim away the excess backing and batting so that your quilt is ready to be bound. I can trim and attach your provided binding to one side of the quilt so that it's ready to you to finish or I can trim and attach the whole binding so the quilt is 100% complete when it's returned to you. The choice is yours.

Trimming and binding services are charged by the linear inch plus $7.50 per half hour to make the binding. NOTE: the fabric required to make the binding must be provided with your quilt top.

For example, your quilt that measures 60" x 80" for a total of 280 inches. Assuming it one hour to make and press the binding.

Trimming service:

280 x $0.05 = $14.00

Trimming + attaching binding to one side:

280 x $0.15 = $42.00 + $15.00 = $57.00

Trimming + attaching binding to both sides:

280 x $0.40 = $112.00 + $15.00 = $127.00

Quilts Made-to-Order

T-Shirt/Memory Quilts

Every quilt is different. The below rates are simply a starting point. Not sure what you want? Ask for a quote. I'd be happy to work one up for you.

The standard charge for a T-shirt/Memory quilt is based on the number of shirts or blocks in the quilt. One shirt is trimmed to one block measuring 12 inches, finished. I charge $20 per 12 inch block. Rate includes trimming shirts to size, fabric stabilizer (if required), simple 2 inch (single color) sashing, single 2 inch boarder (matching sashing), batting, quilting and binding. All shirts/block material and quilt backing fabric are not included.

Additional charges will apply for special requests like: larger blocks, custom sashing, cornerstone units, or custom boarders along with any other special requests.

Example:

16 T-shirts trimmed to 16 12 inch blocks with 2 inch sashing and boarder. Finished quilt would measure approximately 58 inches/square.

16 x $20=$320

20 T-shirts trimmed to 20 12 inch blocks with 2 inch sashing and boarder. Finished quilt would measure approximately 72 inches x 58 inches.

Shipping

Shipping your top and backing to me: I live in Kentucky, USA, and would be happy to receive your top and backing by mail. I'd recommend sending your materials enclosed in some kind of sack or bag to protect against possible moisture in transit and then placed in a hard-sided cardboard box. Make sure the box is securely taped and labeled clearly.

Return shipping: I will send your quilt back to you in the manner described above via USPS Priority mail (using flat rate when possible/economical). Priority mail comes with $50 of insurance and a tracking number but please indicate on your intake form if you would like me to buy any additional insurance on your behalf. It's a great idea to insure your valuables against loss or damage while with the Postal Service, but I don't require it.

Other Costs

As mentioned above, batting is not included in the square inch price. I'm required by the State of Kentucky to collect a 6% sales tax on quilting service, batting, and finishing services on any invoice along with any other itemized materials. Shipping and design/pantograph fees are not subject to sales tax.
